I feel particularly joyful at receiving the news on October 11th that the two Karmapas met up in France to get to know each other on a personal basis and they have issued a statement of their intention to work together from now on for the sake of the precious Karma Kagyu tradition. As you know I have felt the split between the two camps of the Karma Kagyus particularly keenly since I have Dharma teachers and brothers and sisters on both sides of the divide.  I have also always maintained that it is not for an ordinary person like myself to say who is the Karmapa and who is not and that I am in no position to contest the views of those with greater authority than myself in the matter. So it is a great relief to me to see the leaders of the two sides deciding to work together from now on.  I cried when I received the news!
